Tyne and Wear Metro
The Tyne & Wear Metro is a light rail system based in the North-East of England. The Metro covers approximately 77 kilometres (48 miles), with 59 stations serving North and South Tyneside, Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland.
What will the search cover?
The following are sample questions, please advise if you have any additional questions you require answering:
- Please confirm which of the railway lines adjoining the property are under your control?
- Are there any proposals for the construction of any new line, the centre line of which is within 200 metres of the property?
- Are there any proposals for a change in the number of trains using your existing line or any plans to re-activate a disused line?

- What restrictions are there on building adjacent to the lines and is your consent required to carry out any alterations to the property?
- Are there any proposals for work on the line that might affect the property or any future development of it?
- Are there any buried power/communication cables or other services?
- Can entry be had on to your land to maintain the property or carry out building works?
